Departmental Vision

Engaging Hearts

Texas Conference Children's Ministries seeks to engage the hearts and minds of our young children through dynamic, interactive programming. We desire to equip our leaders in teaching methods that are designed to connect with all types of learners, so that each child may be encouraged to study the Scriptures in relevant and life-changing ways.

Mentoring Lives

Texas Conference Children's Ministries seeks to create a strong mentoring network of passionate children's ministry leaders that are involved in unified training, fellowship, and encouragement. We also seek to foster a conference-wide vision of ongoing discipleship between local church leaders and their children.

Connecting With Christ

Texas Conference Children's Ministries seeks to put Christ at the center of our lives. We fill our office with prayer and ask for God's guidance in every endeavor. We encourage both leaders and children to have an ongoing relationship with Jesus, and we desire to provide tools, resources and mentorship that will help grow that connection.

Get To Know Your Department Leader

Alexis Rivera has a lifelong passion for children’s ministry. She grew up fully involved with her family, and found her passion for leadership in her field during her years as a program director at summer camp.

She chose to carry that into her professional life, getting her BA in Theology at Southwestern Adventist University in 2008 and her Masters of Divinity at Andrews University in 2013. Most recently, she has received her endorsement through Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries for her training at Texas Health Huguley Medical Center.

Her training in pastoral ministry has helped add to her many tools. She believes kids are able to understand the deep Biblical truths in a fun and interactive manner, and has taken what she has learned and translated it into child-friendly language.  She loves to share the joy of knowing Jesus with all who she comes in contact with and feels it is a privilege to serve daily for her Savior.
